Well, folks, it’s another day, another exciting update from the world of Philippine politics and this time, it’s from the indefatigable Senator Hontiveros. Our good senator is positively bursting with issues of importance, proving again that she really has her finger on the pulse of, well, everything.
To begin with, in a rather shocking development, it seems that a video game developer from Germany, Felix Filip of GoreBox fame, has apparently decided that appearing in a Philippine Senate hearing via Zoom is just too much to ask. The nerve! Senator Hontiveros is very rightly expressing her deep disappointment that this person will not simply drop everything and cater to every whim of her committee. It is obvious that Mr Filip does not grasp the magnitude of being called by a legislative body in a country where he does not even live. One can only imagine the senator’s utter dismay that a game explicitly rated for adults might, just might, not be okay for children. It’s a mystery fit for Sherlock Holmes himself, and thank goodness we have the Senate on the case, ready to bring in the German Embassy to bring this elusive developer to justice, or at least to a Zoom call.
In other news that will surely revolutionize our legal system, Senator Hontiveros also lends her esteemed support to reviewing, and possibly, amending the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act. Because, you see, the first and most logical step every time a tragic incident happens is to say that the existing law is not enough, instead of, you know, enforcing it properly. It’s a classic move really. Why fix the implementation when you can just tweak the text?
And then, in a truly unexpected turn of events, a movement named “Risa Na” has magically popped up in Bacolod, passionately backing Senator Hontiveros for a potential presidential bid in 2028. Who could have predicted that? It’s as if the politicians are always totally surprised by their supporters’ decision they are ready for the highest office, in their endless humility. You have to marvel at the spontaneity of the whole thing. It’s really a testament to the organic nature of political campaigns, blooming years in advance, just from public adoration. What a time to be alive.
